Progressive Retinal Atrophy RCD2 (Collie Type)

Description

Progressive Retinal Atrophy RCD2 specifically affects Collies and is a disease that causes blindness. Affected dogs will present with the abnormal development of the photoreceptors (rods and cones). The development of these photoreceptors will eventually degenerate. Although both photoreceptors will degenerate, the rods will degenerate at a faster rate, therefore the night blindness occurs first.
